What is the requirement for 24 hour service? back to menu
Every NMEDA QAP dealer must provide customers with 24 hour, seven-day-a-week service. QAP dealers shall have a system in place which allows customers easy access to an after-hours answering service, or service telephone number, or service beeper number. Dealers must respond to a service call promptly, and provide emergency assistance as warranted. This system must be outlined in writing, and kept in each dealer's QAP manual. An outline of the requirement is as follows:

What do I need to do to drop or add a QAP category? back to menu
In order to drop a category, you must contact Kristen at the NMEDA office by calling (800) 833-0427. If you would like to add a category, you must furnish NMEDA and RADCO with any additional documentation (i.e.- welding certificate for Structural category) and make the changes to your Quality Control Manual.

What if I'm late with my membership, QAP or RADCO fees? back to menu
If a dealer is thirty days past due in paying annual fees for NMEDA membership, for participation in the Quality Assurance Program (if not a NMEDA member) and/or fees owed to RADCO, accreditation can be terminated.

Where can I purchase "Make Inoperative" labels and how much do they cost?
You can purchase "Make Inoperative" labels from NMEDA by filling out the supply order form and faxing it to (831) 962-8970 for $0.25 per label.

Where do I purchase NMEDA/RADCO labels and when should I apply them? back to menu
NMEDA/RADCO labels must be purchased from RADCO's California office by calling (562) 272-7231 for $6.00 per label. Monthly label reports (cover page only) should also be sent to the office at the address below:

NMEDA/RADCO labels must be placed on all vehicles modified and/or sold by the dealer.

Who should sign off on the Quality Assurance Checklist if I'm the only technician? back to menu
If in the rare case that there is only one person qualified to check the work that is done in the shop, that technician must sign off on their own work. In any other case, another qualified technician must sign off on the checklist.

When should I update my Quality Control Manual? back to menu
Your Quality Control Manual should be updated any time your address changes, you have a change of employee(s) or there is a change in ownership. You do not have to redo the entire manual, however. All you are required to do is send the addendum to Kristen Clevidence at NMEDA by fax to (813) 962-8970 and Bill Roeling at RADCO by fax to (813) 243-1314.

Can I subcontract work to other dealers? back to menu
Yes, but it must be another QAP Accredited dealer. Shops that subcontract structural modifications in their entirety will not be considered Structural Modifiers. Shops performing structural modifications that subcontract only their welding to certified welders will be considered Structural Modifiers.

If I install a client's old lift into their new vehicle, does the lift have to be compliant with FMVSS 403/404? back to menu
The 403 requires that the lift manufacturer meet performance and safety requirements for all lifts they produce - the 403 requirements do not affect the installer. The lift you are transferring does not have to be 403 compliant if it was manufactured prior to the 403 coming into effect. The 404 requires that lifts installed in new (untitled) vehicles be 403 compliant and be installed as per the manufacturer's instructions. If the vehicle you will be moving the lift to is titled, you do not legally have to install the lift to be compliant with 404.
